Dr. Sara Axelrod joined the Practice in 2012. Originally from Michigan, she received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan with honors. She continued her studies and earned a Master's in Public Health with a focus on Genetic Epidemiology.
She attended the George Washington University School of Medicine, graduating in 2007. She went on to complete her residency at UMDNJ in Internal Medicine. She completed her fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at Winthrop University Hospital/Stony Brook Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Axelrod was awarded the coveted AAAAI Art Trust mini -grant for her research relating IL33 with allergic diseases, as well as being widely published on topics including allergic contact dermatitis, urticaria, angioedema , as well as allergic rhinoconjunctivitus. Her chapter on atopic dermatitis (eczema) has been published in a recent Allergy and Clinical Immunology textbook.
Dr Axelrod lives in Monmouth County with her husband and two young children.
She currently treats patients in our Brick and Wall locations.
